The three favourites lead the Suzuka 8 Hours free practice. The Yoshimura Suzuki Racing Team with Yukio Kagayama, Josh Waters and Nobuatsu Aoki clocked the fastest lap in 2'10.336 just before the end of the session ahead of the FCC TSR Honda of Kosuke Akiyoshi, Shinichi Ito and Ryuichi Kiyonari in 2'10.352 and the Honda who won the 2010 Suzuka 8 Hours, the Musashi Harc Pro of Takumi Takahashi, Makoto Tamada and Tadayuki Okada in 2'10.789.
