This weekend will have the launch of a FIM Flat Track meeting which is going to be held in Lonigo, Italy, Saturday 21st May.
The Flat Track is a new branch of FIM motorcycle discipline but it is very well developed especially in the USA, Canada, Australia and Great Britain and a lot of former USA road racing riders came from Flat Track, like Spencer, Mamola, Schwantz.
The tracks are almost the same as speedway and are quite different from each other in shape and shale. They can be from 200m up to 1600m.
The very competitive line-up include riders from five different nations. It features top British specialist Aidan Collins along with youngster fellow countrymen Tom Wooley. Yankee Bryce Starks already impressed in the afternoon practice and is one of the riders to watch for the meeting. Hungary is represented with the presence of Onodi Benjamin. The French Damien Bomais had shown some good laps during the practice session that promise some good heats tonight.
The Italian riders are well represented with former British Champion Marco Belli and also with the former speedway rider Fabrizio Vesprini who won the last Italian Flat Track meeting in Lonigo last 01st May.
